El ecuatoriano Patricio Silva Young amaneció bien temprano hoy en la Argentina. Es que no quería perderse detalle de todo lo que acontecería desde las 8 de la mañana en el Auditorio Buenos Aires.
No era para menos. Se trataba de su primer World Review en el país luego de haber asumido hace tres meses al frente de la región Sur para la megauditora IMS.
Y aunque el evento fue crackeado con gran planificación surgió “un inesperado”.
La semana pasada, la ministra de Industria Débora Giorgi convocó a la industria farmacéutica a pleno para discutir hoy a la mañana sobre estrategias sectoriales en materia de producción e intercambio comercial de medicamentos.
Es así, que varios número uno que son infaltables del World Review pegaron el faltazo para reunirse en torno de un tema que tiene más que involucrada a la industria farmacéutica en el país.
Mientras tanto, la reunión anual de IMS trajo consigo varios datos relevantes que conviene resaltar.
Murray Aitkein, VP Senior Healthcare Insight de IMS fue contundente cuando dijo: “América Latina resulta una región de importancia estratégica para nuestra industria”.
A la vez que subrayó la clasificación de Argentina como uno de los potentes países farmergentes en el que se proyectan positivos índices de crecimiento.
Y hubo otros datos que conviene agendar. Uno de los más llamativos es que durante 2010 fueron sólo 24, las nuevas moléculas que salieron al mercado a nivel mundial.
Mientras tanto, en la Argentina las nuevas entidades moleculares fueron apenas 15.
Es así, que la industria de innovación fue ubicada en un escenario más que difícil. Dijeron en el IMS World Review: “buenas noticias para el pagador y malas noticias para la investigación y el desarrollo”.
Y es en el contexto del aggiornamiento que tendrá el mercado en los próximos años que los speakers consideraron clave el avance de las compañías regionales así como el empuje de las medianas de genéricos.
El destaque de los laboratorios regionales dio la nota de la mano de la mexicana Genomma, la brasilera Eurofarma –que en Argentina adquirió Laboratorios Quesada, los chilenos de Recalcine y la colombiana Biotoscana, los que fueron destacados por Juan Manuel Santa María, Director de Consultoría de IMS, Región Sur.
Es así que la auditora de mercado incluyó a “los regionales”, como una nueva categoría de análisis, además de las clásicas de globales y nacionales.
En el meeting se mostraron además los 20 laboratorios líderes en la región. Se trata de Sanofi, Novartis, Pfizer, Bayer, Merck & Co, EMS, GSK, J&J, Boehringer Ingelheim y Abbott.
La segunda decena la lidera Ache Labs, AstraZeneca, Merck Serono, Roemmers, Roche, Eurofarma, Nycomed, Teva, Eli Lilly y Neo Química.
No es menor destacar la panregionalización de varias de estas compañías que están teniendo cada vez más peso en la región. Son la brasilera de genéricos EMS, la argentina Roemmers y las verde-amarello Ache y Neo Química.
Los representantes de los laboratorios dijeron presente y aprovecharon el meeting para desayunar e intercambiar información propia.
Es así que se entrelazaron Alfredo Weber, general manager de IVAX, Mariano Schvarzstein general manager de la cadena de farmacias Central Oeste y Jonathan Kovalivker, del sector Droguerías.
Estuvo Luis Ricciardulli, gerente adscripto de Sanofi y ex número uno de Nycomed. También Guillermo Usher, gerente general de Ferring y Jorge Ramos, de Tecnofarma.
Dieron el sí asismismo, Germán Heinken, número uno de Genomma Labs y Daniel Llinás de Farmacity.

The IMS World Review glowed with analysis

Ecuadorian Patricio Silva Young rose fairly early today in Argentina, not wanting to miss any details of events starting at 8 a.m. at the Buenos Aires Auditorium.

At the same time, he emphasized that Argentina is one of the pharma-emerging countries with most potential, for which very positive growth rates are projected.
There was other news worth noticing. One of the most interesting thinghs was that during 2010 only 24 new molecules were released to the market worldwide.
In Argentina there were only 15 new molecules.
Accordingly, the innovation industry is currently going through difficult times.
At the IMS World Review, the situation was characterized as “good news for the payer and bad news for research and development”.
In this new market scenario, the speakers said the progress of regional companies, as well as the drive of the mid-size generics companies, will both be key.
With regards to regional pharmaceutical companies, Juan Manuel Santa María, consulting director for IMS South Region, singled out the Mexican Genomma, the Brazilian Eurofarma –which acquired Laboratorios Quesada in Argentina- the Chilean Recalcine and the Colombian Biotoscana.
This way the market auditing company included “regional» as a new category for analysis, next to the classic “global” and “national” categories.At the meeting twenty pharmaceutical companies which are leading the region were mentioned.
