Argentine drugmaker Richmond, led by Marcelo Figueiras, has informed the country’s national securities commission that is has decided to register a limited company in Uruguay.

Argentine drugmaker Richmond, led by Marcelo Figueiras, has informed the country’s national securities commission that is has decided to register a limited company in Uruguay.

The new company is named Compañía Inversora Latinoamericana.

Just four months ago, the drugmaker entered the Colombian market, buying a majority stake in the firm Expofarmacia, (no connection to Focus Media’ local trade fair).

Richmond focuses on the oncology generics market and has a plant at the Pilar industrial estate near Buenos Aires. Other areas of focus include HIV products, with large sales volumes to the state (last month the company agreed the sale of 900,000 units of antirretroviral drug Mivuten, for $28.8  million pesos ($1.9 million).
