In Córdoba– The Argentine pharmaceutical company Savant has cut the ribbon at a new softgel capsule plant in the town of El Tío, Córdoba.

During a tour of the new facility with national and local journalists, directors said the company’s Fabogesic ibuprofen would be the plant’s flagship product, which would spearhead its push to promote the softgel dosage form.

The new plant would only produce softgel for Savant’s own products, and that the intention was to increase production from the current output of 3 million units a month.

Company president Mauro Bono said the new plant would only produce softgel for Savant’s own products, and that the intention was to increase production from the current output of 3 million units a month.

The leading softgel capsule manufacturer in Argentina is the multinational Catalent, which operates a plant in Loma Hermosa, Greater Buenos Aires, dedicated entirely to producing for other companies.

Last year, the Dromex group inaugurated its own plant on the Ezeiza industrial estate, also focusing on production for other firms. See article

On El Tío industrial estate in Córdoba, Savant also produces solid, semi-solid and liquid dosage form, and has the potential to double output, Bono told journalists at a press conference.

As well as capital resources, the company has issued corporate bonds to fund its investments. The second in a series of 30 million Argentine pesos releases was issued in August as part of a debt issuance programme capped at 200 million Argentine pesos.

This year, the company had set aside u$s 2.5 million for general investment, including the launch of the new plant, Bono said.
